Privacy Policy
Local speech recognition and Piper output run on the Windows computer. Optional Cloud mode can send recognized text and relevant saved text context to a provider selected by the user, but the correction path does not send raw microphone audio. This policy also covers website forms and analytics. Last updated August 30, 2026.
The short version
- In Local or Off mode, microphone audio is processed for recognition on the PC; Piper, profiles, settings, and saved repairs remain local.
- The intended Local workflow does not require internet after offline installation is complete.
- Optional Cloud mode requires deliberate selection and a user-supplied API key. It may send recognized text and relevant saved text context under the provider's terms, but not raw microphone audio. The saved key is protected with Windows Data Protection API facilities.
- The website stores details submitted through beta and newsletter forms and uses a Meta Pixel for page-visit analytics.
Information we collect
We keep data collection to a minimum. We only hold information you actively provide:
- Beta requests. When you ask for beta access, we store the email address you provide (required) and, if you choose to share them, your name, platform, and a short note about your use case.
- Newsletter. If you subscribe, we store your email address so we can send project updates.
- Email contact. If you email us at info@dysvoxa.com or support@dysvoxa.com, we receive the contents of your message.
- Website analytics. The site loads a Meta Pixel that can send page-view and browser or network information to Meta under its own terms.
What we do not collect
- We do not receive microphone audio through the Local recognition workflow or the Cloud text-correction path.
- In Local or Off mode, DysVoxa does not send transcripts, profiles, settings, or saved repairs to a correction provider.
- Payment card details - donations and backing are handled by third parties (Indiegogo and PayPal) under their own privacy policies.
How we use your information
- To contact you about beta access and respond to your requests.
- To send project updates and newsletters you have asked to receive.
- To understand interest in the project and how website pages are visited.
Storage and third parties
Website form submissions are stored in a database hosted on Cloudflare, our hosting and edge provider. We use a small number of third parties strictly to operate the project:
- Cloudflare - website hosting and storage of beta or newsletter submissions.
- Meta - website page-view analytics through the Meta Pixel.
- Indiegogo and PayPal - if you choose to back or donate; they process those transactions under their own terms.
- Optional, user-configured cloud providers - only if you deliberately select Cloud mode and supply your own API key; recognized text and relevant text context may be sent.
Your rights
You can ask us to access, correct, or delete the contact information we hold about you, or unsubscribe at any time. To make a request, email info@dysvoxa.com. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR; we aim to honour those requests for everyone.
